What Makes Tundra Different
All three Snö formulas produce realistic snow effects. The difference is what happens after the flakes leave the machine. Snö Tundra is engineered for extended hang time — flakes fall slower through the air, stay visible longer, and linger on surfaces before eventually evaporating. This creates a more immersive, sustained snowfall that builds visual depth over the course of a scene or event.
Where Flurry gives you a quick flash of snow that vanishes on contact, Tundra gives you a snowscape — visible flakes drifting through the air, settling on shoulders and surfaces, and creating the kind of atmosphere that makes an audience forget they're indoors.

Best For
-
Theatrical productions — Extended snow scenes where flakes need to drift through the air for the duration of a song, monologue, or act. Slow fall looks natural under stage lighting.
-
Holiday stage shows — Christmas, Nutcracker, winter wonderland performances. Visible accumulation on costumes and set pieces adds to the illusion.
-
Immersive experiences — Walk-through winter installations, museum exhibits, themed attractions where guests should feel surrounded by sustained snowfall.
-
Cinematic & photo shoots — Slow-falling flakes photograph and film beautifully. Extended hang time gives camera operators more to work with in every frame.
-
Large-scale events — Galas, corporate events, and productions where the snow effect is a sustained atmosphere, not a quick burst.
-
Winter wonderland displays — Retail environments, hotel lobbies, and seasonal attractions that want continuous, visible snowfall over extended periods.
Which Snö Formula Do You Need?
The SurgeFX Snö™ line includes three ready-to-use formulas and one concentrate. Each produces realistic snowfall — the difference is how long the flakes last in the air and on surfaces.

Quick Decision Guide:
-
Need snow to linger and accumulate? → Snö Tundra (this product)
-
Need it gone fast? → Snö Flurry
-
Need a general-purpose snow? → Snö Drift
-
Running through gallons per event? → Snö Drift Concentrated (dilute for more volume)
Do I need to mix or dilute this?
No. Snö Tundra is ready-to-use straight from the bottle. Pour it into your snow machine's fluid tank and go. No mixing, no measuring, no water to add.
What machines does it work with?
Snö Tundra is compatible with most professional snow machines, including the SurgeFX Glacious, SF-SM1500, SF-MHS3000, and other standard snow machines that use liquid snow fluid. If your machine takes snow fluid (not dry ice, not foam solution), Snö Tundra will work.
How long do the flakes last?
Tundra flakes have extended hang time — they fall slower through the air and linger on surfaces significantly longer than Flurry or Drift before eventually evaporating. Exact duration varies with humidity, temperature, and airflow. In still, indoor environments, the effect is most pronounced. Outdoors with wind, flakes carry further but dissipate faster.
Will it leave residue or make surfaces slippery?
Snö Tundra evaporates cleanly with no foam and low residue. It won't leave surfaces slippery under normal use. However, because Tundra flakes linger longer, surfaces may become slightly damp during heavy or prolonged use. For dance floors or polished surfaces, plan accordingly — especially during extended high-output runs.
Is it safe for indoor use?
Yes. Water-based, non-toxic, and safe around guests, children, and pets. For sensitive environments (delicate fabrics, expensive electronics), position the snow zone to avoid prolonged direct contact.
How much do I need?
Consumption depends on your machine, output settings, and run time. As a general guide, plan for 1 gallon per 15–30 minutes of continuous output on a mid-sized machine (varies by model and output level). For extended theatrical runs or multi-hour events, keep several gallons on hand.
Is this the same as foam solution?
No. Snow solution and foam solution are different products designed for different machines. Do not use foam solution in a snow machine or snow solution in a foam machine.
Can I use it outdoors?
Yes. Snö Tundra works indoors and outdoors. The extended hang time is most dramatic in still, indoor environments where flakes float and drift naturally. Outdoors, wind will carry flakes further but may reduce the lingering effect. For outdoor use, position the machine upwind of the target area.
Match the Formula to the Job
Snö Tundra is specifically designed for sustained, immersive snowfall where lingering flakes are the whole point. If you need snow that disappears fast between acts (concerts, theme park walk-throughs), use Snö Flurry instead. If you're not sure, Snö Drift is the balanced middle ground.
Tundra Shines in Still Air
The slow-fall effect is most dramatic in calm, indoor environments — theaters, ballrooms, indoor stages. In these settings, Tundra flakes drift slowly and visibly through the air, creating a cinematic quality that faster-dissipating formulas can't match. If you're running HVAC or fans, be aware that air movement will push flakes and speed up dissipation.
Use Lighting to Maximize the Effect
Slow-falling flakes give lighting more to work with. Side lighting or backlighting makes each flake visible as it drifts — a single spotlight cutting across the snowfall zone creates a stunning, three-dimensional effect. Cool blue washes enhance the winter mood. Warm amber gives a cozy, holiday feel. UV lighting adds an ethereal glow for party environments.
Elevate the Machine
The longer hang time means more air travel per flake. Mounting the snow machine high above the audience (on truss, a balcony, or an elevated platform) gives Tundra flakes maximum drift time — the snowfall looks more natural and covers a wider area as flakes float down.
Stock Extra for Extended Runs
Tundra is often used for sustained effects — entire acts, multi-hour experiences, continuous winter displays. Snow machines consume fluid faster than most people expect. For extended use, plan for several gallons per session and keep backup supply accessible. Running out mid-scene is not an option for professional productions.
Flush After Every Use
After every event, run clean water through your snow machine to prevent fluid residue from building up in the pump and lines. This applies to all snow fluids. A clean machine produces better, more consistent flakes and extends the machine's lifespan.
