How much ready-to-use fluid does one bottle make?
At a 19:1 ratio, one 32 oz bottle of concentrate yields approximately 5 gallons of ready-to-use snow fluid.
Can I adjust the mix ratio for thicker snow?
The 19:1 ratio is optimized for best flake quality and machine performance. Going more concentrated (like 15:1) may produce thicker output but can increase residue and affect pump longevity. We recommend sticking with 19:1 for consistent results.
What type of water should I use?
Clean tap water works fine for most applications. For best results and minimal mineral buildup in your machine, use distilled or filtered water.
Is the concentrate safe for indoor use?
Yes. When mixed as directed, Snö Drift™ is non-toxic and safe for indoor events, guests, performers, and pets.
How long does mixed fluid last?
Mixed fluid should be used within 2-4 weeks for best results. Store unused mixed fluid in a sealed container away from direct sunlight. Unmixed concentrate has a much longer shelf life.
Will this work with my non-SurgeFX snow machine?
Yes. Snö Drift™ is compatible with most professional snow machines from any manufacturer. Always follow your machine's fluid guidelines.
What's the difference between Drift and Flurry?
Snö Drift produces standard snowflakes with natural hang time — great for most applications. Snö Flurry is a quick-dissipating formula that evaporates faster, ideal for high-traffic venues or short scenes where rapid cleanup is needed.
Mixing Best Practices
Always add concentrate to water (not water to concentrate) and stir or agitate thoroughly. For large batches, use a mixing paddle or shake the container well before pouring into your machine.
Batch Mixing
For multi-machine setups or back-to-back events, pre-mix in clean 5-gallon buckets with lids. Label with the mix date — use within 2-4 weeks for best performance.
Machine Maintenance
After each event (or at minimum, weekly during heavy use), flush your snow machine with clean water to prevent residue buildup. This extends pump life and ensures consistent output.
Storage
Store unopened concentrate in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid freezing temperatures. Properly stored concentrate maintains quality for 12+ months.
Test Before the Event
Always run a test batch before showtime. Check flake size, coverage, and machine performance. Environmental factors like humidity can affect output — adjust timing accordingly.
Outdoor Considerations
Wind can scatter snow effects quickly outdoors. Position machines in sheltered spots or increase output density to compensate. For best visibility, use snow with stage lighting — it looks incredible under warm or cool-toned spots.
