UV-REACTIVE FOAM POWDER. DISSOLVES INTO YOUR FOAM SOLUTION. INVISIBLE IN NORMAL LIGHT. GLOWS NEON GREEN UNDER BLACKLIGHT. SMALL JAR TREATS 40 GALLONS. LARGE JAR TREATS 400 GALLONS.

Lumos Dust is a UV-reactive powder additive that transforms standard white foam into neon green glowing foam under blacklight. The powder dissolves fully into your foam solution — it's virtually invisible in the barrel. In daylight, the foam shows a slight tint. Under blacklight, the foam lights up with an intense neon green glow that turns any foam event into a full blacklight experience.

Lumos Dust is an additive, not a replacement for foam solution. You still mix your foam solution as normal — Ready to Run, broken-down Gel Concentrate, dissolved Powder, or Pour & Go — then add Lumos Dust to the mixed solution before running your machine. The UV powder works with any SurgeFX foam solution and any foam machine.

⚠ Staining Warning: Lumos Dust may stain some fabrics. Unlike the base SurgeFX foam solutions (which are non-staining), UV Glow Powder contains pigments that can leave marks on clothing, upholstery, and porous surfaces. Advise all guests to wear clothes they don't mind getting stained. Do not use near surfaces, furniture, or materials that cannot be washed or that you're not willing to risk staining. Test on an inconspicuous area first if using near any surface you care about.
💡 You'll Need Blacklights. UV Glow Powder only activates under UV/blacklight. Without blacklights, the foam will show a slight greenish tint but will not glow. The 200W Blacklight 2-Pack is designed specifically for foam events and provides enough UV coverage for most foam zones.

✦ Who Should Buy Lumos Dust?

  • Nighttime & Indoor Foam Events — UV glow foam is built for darkness. Blacklight events, glow parties, neon nights, nightclub foam events, and any indoor or nighttime foam party where you can control the lighting. The darker the environment, the more dramatic the glow effect. If your event is outdoors in daylight, you won't see the UV effect — save the Lumos Dust for after dark.
  • Event Companies Adding a Premium Tier — Standard white foam is your base package. UV glow foam is the upgrade. Offer glow foam as a premium add-on to your foam party packages and charge accordingly. The cost of one jar of Lumos Dust plus a pair of blacklights creates a significantly higher-value experience that justifies premium pricing.
  • Music Festivals & Concert Producers — Glow foam at a nighttime music festival creates an immersive, shareable visual that standard foam doesn't match. The neon green glow under UV lighting photographs and films dramatically — attendees generate content for you.
  • Dance Clubs & Nightlife Venues — Venues with existing blacklight or UV lighting infrastructure can add glow foam to their event lineup with minimal additional investment. The Lumos Dust powder dissolves into standard foam solution — if you already run foam nights, adding glow is just a jar of powder.
  • Youth Events & Glow Runs — Glow runs, glow-themed youth events, and blacklight fundraisers pair naturally with UV foam. The foam glows on skin and clothing under blacklight, turning participants into part of the effect. Important: Advise participants that UV powder may stain clothing.
  • Halloween & Themed Events — The neon green glow under blacklight creates an eerie, otherworldly atmosphere perfect for Halloween, haunted house events, and themed parties. Combine with fog effects for layered production value.
⚠ Not Right If: Your event is outdoors in daylight (no UV glow visible without blacklight), you're operating near surfaces or materials you can't risk staining, or guests will be wearing clothes they want to keep stain-free. UV Glow Powder may stain fabrics and porous surfaces.

Lumos Dust contains UV-reactive pigments that may stain clothing, fabrics, and porous surfaces. This is different from base SurgeFX foam solutions, which are non-staining. When running UV glow foam events: advise all participants to wear clothes they don't mind getting stained, avoid using near carpeting, upholstered furniture, or porous surfaces, test on an inconspicuous area first if staining is a concern, and provide wash stations or towels at the event exit.

🔧 How to Use Lumos Dust

Lumos Dust is an additive — it goes into your already-mixed foam solution. You don't replace your foam solution with it.

Step by Step

  • Mix your foam solution as normal. Use any SurgeFX foam solution format — Ready to Run, broken-down Gel, dissolved Powder, or Pour & Go. Fill your barrel with water and foam solution concentrate at the correct ratio for your chosen format. The UV powder goes in after the foam solution is mixed.
  • Add Lumos Dust to the mixed solution. Sprinkle the UV powder into the barrel and stir thoroughly until fully dissolved. The powder is water-soluble and should disappear into the solution completely. If you can still see undissolved powder floating or settled at the bottom, keep stirring.
  • Run your foam machine as normal. The UV powder travels with the solution through your pump, hoses, and foam machine. No special equipment or settings needed.
  • Turn on your blacklights. The foam will show a slight greenish tint under normal light. Under blacklight/UV, the foam glows neon green. The darker the environment, the more intense the glow. For maximum effect, minimize competing ambient light.
💡 Black Box Compatible. Lumos Dust works with the Black Box Injection Blending System. Dissolve the UV powder fully into your solution container before connecting the pickup hoses. The powder must be completely dissolved — undissolved particles can clog the injection system. Stir thoroughly and verify no visible powder remains before connecting to the Black Box.

How Much to Use

Dosing Guide
Small Jar (2 oz)
Treats up to 40 gallons of mixed foam solution. Ideal for 1 full barrel.
Large Jar (1 lb)
Treats up to 400 gallons of mixed foam solution. Ideal for multi-barrel events, festivals, and season-long supply.

Use the full jar for the specified volume to achieve maximum glow intensity. Using less powder across more water will produce a weaker glow. You can use more powder per gallon for an even more intense effect, but this increases staining potential.

⚖ Small Jar vs. Large Jar

Size Comparison
Size
Small Jar (2 oz) · Large Jar (1 lb)
Yield
Small: Up to 40 gallons · Large: Up to 400 gallons
Best For
Small: Single events, testing the product, 1–2 barrels · Large: Multi-barrel events, festivals, season supply, repeat operators

Which Size Should You Buy?

Choose the Small Jar if: You're running one glow foam event. You want to test Lumos Dust before buying in bulk. Your event only needs 1–2 barrels of glow foam solution. You're mixing for a single foam zone.

Choose the Large Jar if: You're running multiple barrels per event. You run glow foam events regularly throughout the season. You're producing for a festival or large-scale venue. You want the best per-gallon value. One Large Jar treats the same volume as ten Small Jars.

Pairing with Solution Formats

The Small Jar (40 gallons) pairs naturally with a single barrel of any solution format. The Large Jar (400 gallons) pairs naturally with Gel Concentrate — one gallon of Gel treats 400 gallons of water, and one Large Jar of Lumos Dust treats 400 gallons of solution. Convenient 1:1 pairing for maximum glow across maximum yield.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What color does the foam glow?
Neon green under blacklight/UV light. In daylight or normal indoor lighting, the foam shows a slight greenish tint but does not glow. The glow effect requires UV/blacklight to activate.

Does it glow without blacklights?
No. Lumos Dust is UV-reactive — the glow effect only appears under blacklight/UV lighting. Without blacklights, you'll see a slightly tinted foam but no glow. You need blacklights to get the effect. The 200W Blacklight 2-Pack is designed for this exact use.

Will it stain?
Yes, it may stain some fabrics and porous surfaces. This is different from base SurgeFX foam solutions, which are non-staining. The UV-reactive pigments in Lumos Dust can leave marks on clothing, upholstery, carpeting, and porous materials. Always advise guests to wear clothes they don't mind getting stained. Test on an inconspicuous area before using near any surface you care about.

Is it safe for skin?
Lumos Dust is water-soluble and non-toxic. The UV powder washes off skin with water. Avoid direct eye contact — rinse with clean water if contact occurs. Rinse skin after extended contact with the foam. While the base SurgeFX foam solutions are cosmetic-grade and hypoallergenic, the UV pigment is a separate additive — if participants have known skin sensitivities, consider testing on a small area first.

How much powder do I need?
The Small Jar (2 oz) treats up to 40 gallons of solution — roughly one full barrel. The Large Jar (1 lb) treats up to 400 gallons. Use the specified amount for the corresponding water volume to achieve full glow intensity. Using less powder across more water produces a weaker glow.

Can I use it with any foam solution?
Yes. Lumos Dust is compatible with all SurgeFX foam solution formats: Ready to Run, broken-down Gel Concentrate, dissolved Powder, and Pour & Go. Mix your foam solution first, then add the UV powder and stir until fully dissolved.

Can I use it with the Black Box?
Yes, but the powder must be fully dissolved before connecting to the Black Box. Undissolved particles can clog the injection system and damage the pump. Dissolve the UV powder into your solution container, verify no visible powder remains, then connect the pickup hoses.

Can I combine it with Foam Color Additive?
You can, but the results may vary. Foam Color Additive adds visible color in normal light, while Lumos Dust adds UV-reactive glow. Combining them means your foam will be colored in daylight and glow under blacklight. Test the combination in a small batch first to verify the result matches your expectations. Note that combining additives increases staining potential.

Does it work outdoors in daylight?
No — not for the glow effect. In daylight, the foam will show a slight greenish tint, but the neon glow only activates under UV/blacklight. For an outdoor daytime foam party, use Foam Color Additive for visible color instead. Save Lumos Dust for nighttime outdoor events or indoor events where you can control the lighting.

How do I clean up?
UV glow foam cleans up the same as standard foam — rinse with water. However, because of the staining potential, clean surfaces promptly after the event. The longer the UV pigment sits on porous surfaces, the harder it is to remove. Rinse down the foam zone, hose off any equipment, and clean any surfaces that came into contact with the glow foam as soon as practical after the event ends.

Works with all foam machines?
Yes. Once dissolved into your foam solution, Lumos Dust works with the Foam Blaster Maxx, Foam Blaster Pro-X, the Black Box, and any standard foam machine.

💡 Pro Tips from SurgeFX Operators

Darkness Is Everything
The glow effect intensity is directly proportional to how dark your environment is. A fully dark room with only blacklights produces the most dramatic neon green glow. A dimly lit venue with some ambient light still looks good but less intense. An outdoor event at twilight with mixed light will be underwhelming. If you're running glow foam, commit to darkness — turn off overhead lights, cover windows, and let the blacklights do the work.

Position Blacklights Facing the Foam Zone
Blacklights need to illuminate the foam, not just the room. Aim your 200W Blacklights directly at the foam output zone and the area where foam accumulates on the ground/participants. UV light falls off with distance — closer blacklights to the foam zone means brighter glow. Two blacklights flanking the foam zone from 10–15 feet away is a solid starting position for most setups.

Dissolve Completely — No Exceptions
Undissolved UV powder settling at the bottom of your barrel means weak glow in the first few minutes (plain solution gets pumped first) and clogged lines later (concentrated sludge hits the pump). Stir from the bottom up. If you can see any powder on the bottom of the barrel, it's not ready. This is especially critical if you're using the Black Box — undissolved particles will damage the injection system.

Warn Guests About Staining — Before They Enter
The single biggest complaint at glow foam events is stained clothing that guests didn't expect. Post signage at every entry point: "UV glow foam may stain clothing. Wear clothes you don't mind getting stained." Say it at the microphone. Put it on the event page. Put it on the ticket. Put it everywhere. Guests who know in advance think it's fun. Guests who find out after their white sneakers turn green think it's a problem.

Set Up a Rinse Station at the Exit
A garden hose with a spray nozzle at the exit of the foam zone lets guests rinse off UV foam before it dries on their skin and clothes. Drying UV pigment is harder to remove than wet UV pigment. A simple rinse station takes 5 minutes to set up and dramatically reduces post-event complaints about staining.

Test Your Setup Before the Event
Mix a small batch of glow foam solution, run your machine for 60 seconds in your foam zone with blacklights on, and verify the glow intensity before guests arrive. This confirms: the UV powder is dissolved and working, the blacklights are positioned correctly, the environment is dark enough for good glow, and the foam output looks the way you want it to. Fix problems during setup, not during the event.

Pair with the Large Jar of Gel for Maximum Economy
One gallon of Gel Concentrate (after 24-hr breakdown) treats 400 gallons of water. One Large Jar of Lumos Dust (1 lb) treats 400 gallons of solution. That's a clean 1:1 ratio — one gallon of gel and one Large Jar of UV powder gives you 400 gallons of glow foam at the best per-gallon cost for both solution and additive.

Clean Equipment After Every Glow Event
UV pigment can build up in pumps, hoses, and foam machine mesh over time. After each glow foam event, flush your system with clean water for several minutes. This prevents UV residue from tinting your next non-glow event's foam with an unwanted greenish hue. If you run glow foam frequently, consider dedicating a set of hoses to glow events.

✦ Perfect For
  • Nighttime & Indoor Events — Glow parties, neon nights, club events. The darker the environment, the better the glow.
  • Premium Event Upgrade — Standard foam is the base. Glow foam is the premium tier. Charge accordingly.
  • Music Festivals — Neon green glow foam at night. Immersive, shareable, dramatic.
  • Nightlife Venues — If you have existing UV lighting, adding glow foam is just a jar of powder.
  • Glow Runs & Youth Events — Foam glows on skin and clothing under blacklight.
  • Halloween & Themed Events — Eerie neon green glow. Layer with fog for production value.

⚠ Not for daylight events (glow requires blacklight), or near surfaces you can't risk staining.
