Stack the Effects
Combine Solaris Jet with other SurgeFX machines:
How is Solaris Jet different from regular cold spark machines?
Traditional cold spark machines produce continuous fountain effects. Solaris Jet is designed for instant burst "spark shots" — fast, high-impact hits that sync with music beats and cues. It's the effect that makes crowds react.
How many bursts per powder load?
Approximately 15 sprays per full 160g powder load. Plan your powder inventory based on your show's cue count.
What powder does it use?
SurgeFX Outdoor Spark Powder — a titanium-based formula optimized for outdoor cold spark machines. The sparks are relatively cool (40–50°C) compared to traditional pyrotechnics, but still require proper safety clearances.
Can I use it outdoors?
Yes. The Solaris Jet features a rainproof aluminum shell for outdoor events. However, wind can affect spark direction and visibility.
How do I sync multiple units?
Use DMX512 control to link multiple Solaris Jets. Program chasing effects (left-to-right, right-to-left, center-out) or simultaneous firing for maximum impact.
What do the indicator lights mean?
The 4-color LED system (red/yellow/blue/green) provides quick status identification: heating status, ready state, and fault alerts. Check the manual for specific codes.
How often should I clean it?
The Solaris Jet includes an automatic cleaning function for routine maintenance. Run the cleaning cycle after extended use to maintain consistent performance.
Is the residue easy to clean?
Yes. Cold spark residue is easy to sweep up. A regular broom handles cleanup. Note that some powder may not fully ignite, leaving residue — this is normal and not a defect.
Timing Your Bursts
Solaris Jet is built for timed hits — beat drops, chorus hits, walkout moments, and reveal cues. Program your DMX cues to match your music timeline for maximum crowd impact.
Safety Clearances
Maintain at least 5 meters (16 ft) clearance from people, flammable materials, and overhead obstructions. Cold sparks are cooler than traditional pyro but still require responsible operation.
Burst Limits
Do not fire more than 10 bursts in rapid succession. Allow the machine to cycle between heavy use periods. If sparks stop or output decreases, pause operation and let the system recover.
Powder Management
Each 160g load of Outdoor Spark Powder provides ~15 bursts. For shows with many cues, bring extra powder and plan refill breaks. Always turn off the machine before refilling.
Post-Show Cooldown
After your final burst, turn off heating but let the fan run to cool the system before powering off completely. This extends the life of internal components.
Multi-Unit DMX Programming
For chasing effects across multiple units, assign sequential DMX addresses. Program patterns like:
- Left → Right wave for horizontal energy
- Center → Outward for explosive reveals
- All-at-once for maximum impact finales
Pressure Settings
Use the 3-gear pressure control to match your venue. Lower pressure for smaller indoor venues, higher pressure for large outdoor stages where you need maximum height and visibility.
Residue Handling
If loose powder ignites outside the machine, extinguish with sand or soil — never water. Keep a sand bucket nearby during operation as a precaution.
