Can I use this in the rain?

Yes. IP65 is specifically rated for water jets from any direction — rain is well within its protection level. The housing is sealed, connectors are IP65-rated waterproof, and all electronics are protected. What IP65 does not cover: submersion, standing water, or pressure washing. Don't put it in a puddle or a pool. Rain, snow, sprinklers? No problem.

How long does the battery actually last?

Do I need the WiFi app?

The WiFi app is one of six control options — it's not required. The app is the most convenient for quick event setups, but every function is accessible without it.

How many do I need for a typical event?

Make it part of your load-out routine: when you return from an event, plug in all BP918 units before leaving the shop. 4–5 hours to full charge means they're ready long before your next load-in.

Use the IR Remote for Quick Color Matching

When a client points at a linen swatch and says "match that," the IR remote is your fastest tool. Scroll through preset colors, find the closest match, fine-tune with the individual RGBWA+UV controls on the LCD display. Once dialed in, set all other units to match via master/slave or the WiFi app.

Master/Slave for Uniform Uplighting

For events where every uplight needs to be the exact same color (the most common uplighting scenario), master/slave mode is the fastest deployment. Set one fixture as master, dial in the color, all slave units match automatically. No DMX controller needed. No WiFi app needed. No programming needed.

Start at 70–80% for Longer Runtime

Most clients can't tell the difference between 80% and 100% intensity, but the battery runtime improvement is significant — you might gain 2–3 additional hours. If the venue offers any power outlets near fixture locations, plug in those units and run the rest on battery.

IP65 Doesn't Mean Careless

After outdoor events in wet conditions: wipe fixtures dry before storage, check that connector caps are seated, and store in a dry environment.
